Ominimo becomes a unicorn worth 1.6 billion dollars

We have just joined Europe's billion-dollar insurtech companies, and Sweden was part of the journey there.

The milestone came after a completed Series B funding round at a valuation of 1.6 billion dollars, led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The company was founded in 2024 and has since launched in four EU markets, with Sweden becoming the fourth in October 2025, and more markets and the US planned within the next year. In less than two years the business has grown to almost one million customers and annual premium income above 350 million dollars, which places it among Europe's fastest-growing insurtech companies.

None of this happens by chance. Behind it are artificial intelligence and advanced modelling that reward safe drivers with better-tailored premiums, the same approach behind the prices Swedish customers see today, together with risk analysis strong enough to let the company grow this fast without losing money along the way.

“Ominimo is one of the most impressive insurtech companies we have assessed, combining exceptional growth with strong financial fundamentals,” says Bruno Lusic, EBRD. “We are pleased to support the company in the next phase of its development and look forward to a long-term partnership as it continues on this remarkable growth journey.”
